Manitoba Police Commission Programs

The Police Services Act provides the foundation for the four programs under the Manitoba Police Commission (MPC).

  • Under the Police Board Program, the MPC is responsible for developing an ethical code of conduct and policy and procedure manual for Police Boards and for arranging the training of Police Board members.

  • Through the Civilian Monitor Program the MPC arranges civilian monitor training and appropriately assigns civilian monitors to specific conduct incidents involving police officers.

  • The Legislation Program is the vehicle the MPC uses for public consultation on law enforcement matters and for providing advice to the minister on regulations on specific issues relating to law enforcement or policing.

  • The Ministerial Assignment Program allows the Minister of Justice to ask the MPC to conduct research and/or provide recommendations of issues affecting or relating to law enforcement and policing.
