Desirée Gillespie – Commissioner
Gillespie is a Service Specialist with the Métis Child and Family Services Authority. She is well versed and has an extensive understanding of Aboriginal and Provincial Governance Structures. In addition to her professional experience with policy development within the Aboriginal Justice Inquiry-Child Welfare Initiative and her community relations work within the Manitoba Métis Federation, Gillespie has been a local leader within the Manitoba Métis Community for 15 years. Desirée has worked as a youth at risk officer and as a Director of the Metis Family and Community Institute. She is a registered social worker and graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Social Work Degree. Desirée is also a published Children’s Author and is a volunteer board member for the Interlake Métis Community Advisory Committee Restorative Justice Program.
